Hoooo!!! Life throws us out of gear at will and we just could not do anything other than accepting to dance to its tunes. I was happily blogging a fortnight back and all of a sudden a big challenging task came on my way and I grabbed it with two hands as it was a very interesting technical work which would add value to my "Architect" tag, but after accepting that, I realized that I volunteered to have a big snake around my neck and the strength of the snake grew bigger and bigger as I was fully sucked into that job. I always had an intuition that I can tame that snake and kill him and that is what I did 3 days back and felt very relieved and happy about the task I did, really felt refreshing that I did something great. I was busy reading those appreciation emails and replying back to them saying "it-is-just-a-team-work" you know types and at last found some time to blog...

So that being said, my next assignment is in the US where I will be leaving on the 4th of September and this trip is seriously a face saving one for my company and my team, so myself and my mate G would be travelling to a place called Nashua and then prove and behave like Architect's and solve loads of issues there and come out with flying colors. My management is very much dependent on us and we should seriously do a good job there apart from enjoying over the weekends. I want you guys to pray for me and wish me good luck. Then on the personal front, I am pissed off that my vacation plan has been cancelled for the second time, first time it was due to Swine Flu scare and this time due to my US trip, but I have conveyed the message to my management that I will be directly getting into vacation once I come back to India. I now have to wait 6 more weeks to go on vacation.

I am moving my family back to Chennai this weekend and they would be busy hunting for my Miss. Perfect and I don't have to bother about that. I will be bringing them back to Bangalore after Dheepavali. I don't have anything else to blog here, but I hope I can blog more when I travel to the US as the working time over there would be a max of 7 hours a day unlike India where I work 14 hours a day. Ok buddies, let me sign off now and I am sure I will blog once I reach US. I know I have lot of blogs to read and lot of tag's to do, and I promise that I will do those when I am flying or when I am at the airport lounge. Nashua, New Hampshire here I come and be ready to greet me with those beautiful colors of fall :)

H1 N1 - A Funny Review ...

Well ... Well ... Well the entire globe is now shivering with fear and people fear to even breadth, the new one of its kind virus is called the H1 N1 virus or otherwise known as "Swine Flu", what started as a pandemic in countries like Indonesia and Thailand and as usually India did not bother much about it until it was affected seriously. Now it’s time to take some reactive measures and try to protect ourselves from that deadly virus. I am sure by now you folks would have got 100s of emails which would have given you 1000 different ways to protect you from that virus and hence I am not going to bore you all with that same thing. We are now going to see the funnier side of H1 N1 and what tamasha it has brought into our country. As a word of caution, I would like to say that the incidents mentioned here are fictional and if it happens to match a real life character, it is mere coincidence...

It all started with a campaign stating that we should protect our hands and keep it clean all the time and our office being so careful in all these things, they downloaded a huge truck of sanitizers and installed it in every corner of our office and it carried a beautiful sign saying "Wash your hands to be fine and say good bye to Swine". There were automatic dispensers of those hand sanitizers everywhere and without even knowing what it is people started to use that and I happened to come across a very serious character who spoke to me with a sense of bother that India should not have allowed H1 N1 to spread like this, we should have taken precautionary measures blah blah blah and all these were happening in our office rest room, suddenly our health cautious man pressed really hard on those "hand-sanitizers" (which was written bold in text) and filled it till the brim of his concaved palm and started washing his face, and while washing he gave me one more shocking comment saying "This face wash is not as good as dettol Satish". So here we come across the first educated fool who is trying to create awareness about H1 N1.

There were automatic hand sanitizing dispenser's every 200 meters and one fine afternoon there was a bigggg queue across all dispenser's and people were waiting to get their "hand" sanitized, I being a person who likes to observe people, I started looking at one fellow who was the most restless in that queue, he was constantly watching his watch and making calls in his cell phone saying "Ya ya ... I will be there in two minutes, you initiate the call ..." and he tend to be more restless as time goes, I went near him to check if he is having any other mental disease other than H1 N1 and asked him "What's up", and he gave me a very innocent reply saying "See yaar, I gotta go for a call, but there is a bloody queue for this hand sanitizers, not sure what to do ...but I have to wait", that idiot thinks that it is a mandatory stuff to sanitize his hand just because the office management has installed sanitizers, he has no clue of why he is doing that and he is the second educated fool who is trying to spread awareness on H1 N1

Wearing a mask has actually become a fashion statement now. I saw a girl who was wearing a beautiful mask which actually had an embroidery work of a flower. School going kids are the ones who enjoy this whole H1 N1 saga, if they have not done the homework, all they need to do is to cough and sneeze in front of the class teacher and the next 15th minute you are at home and as a result of that the entire class gets a day off. Awareness is absolutely zero in this whole issue, and thanks to media who added more panic than awareness to this society, lots of people are blindly following such false emails and then act really funny. One of my malayalee colleagues who always has the passion to go to the US has completely changed his mind and decided to work only from India, and the reason for that is, someone told him it seems, to go to US you need H1 and this fellow mistook that H1 with the Swine flu and changed his mind.

In chat’s people who generally ask "Hope you are doing fine" have now started ask "Hope you are not doing Swine". I would still say that his disease is nothing but an extension of SARs and the symptoms are quite similar to that and that too would lead to the death of the person if not diagnosed properly. It's a general flu and just because the media has hyped about this disease so much, instead of creating awareness, it has created fear and panic amongst the affected patients. I would say any disease would prove deadly if not diagnosed or properly treated, even a common cold can kill a person, it all depends on our body's immune system and our body knows how to react and how to protect itself from such diseases, and we call it as resistance in simple terms. We claiming ourselves educated people, just start thinking this in a much holistic way and spread the news to our fellow educated fools, let’s not blindly follow the crowd and we will be heading nowhere.

All that being said and done, my heart goes for the family of the victims who have lost their dear ones to this virus and I would say this as most unfortunate. Maintaining the eco balance of this planet is unfortunately not with us, and it is with him who sits above us and making all of us dance to his tunes.

Freedom ...

It was a very relaxing evening for Vinay and he was laying around in his PG after working hard for a week at work, he knew there is nothing much he can do to keep himself busy and occupied other than watching TV or reading few books, that's when he got to remember his good old friend Sarah and he chose to dial to her number. Sarah his is old girl friend with whom he broke up couple of years back but they were still friends. Vinay proposed to Sarah on a no-moon day and she straight away rejected him saying that she is already committed, but fate played a twist in her tale as well and she broke up with her boy friend a month ago. Vinay dialed her number and then asked her if she is available for dinner that night, Sarah said she is holding another call and hence she will call him back, after Vinay waiting for 10 minutes Sarah called him back and said, "Oh yeah, we can go out for dinner" and asked him what is the reason for treating her this time ...

Vinay smiled and said, "I never said, it’s gonna be a dutch, so you need not pay for this". In an hour’s time, Vinay and Sarah met in one of the expensive restaurants in that city and they were sharing some of their good old times where they both spent together, both of them felt that the meeting was soothing to their heart and a lost relationship is getting back on track and they both were happy about that. Vinay wanted this relationship to blossom and he knew that this is the right time for that. They both end up meeting each other every other day and then spent a lot of time together. One fine day Vinay proposed to Sarah the second time and she this time accepted him as per the good old saying "A know devil is better than an unknown angel". Vinay and Sarah got married and led a very happy life for three months and little did Sarah know that the worst part of her life is just going to start.

Sarah one day called up Vinay to tell him the good news that she is expecting and she expected a sparkling reaction from Vinay, but he just didn't react too much to that and gave her a pretty ordinary "whats-the-big-deal" kinda response, that actually did not go that well with Sarah, but she pacified herself saying that he may be busy with work or he did not want to react too much at office and hence he played it subtle. She was eagerly waiting for him to come back home and she a kind of expected that he will surprise her with something big. 7:00 PM would be his usual time to come home, but that day it was 10 in the night and there were no signs of Vinay, she called him up on his cell phone and it went unanswered, as the time passed by, Sarah got worried, but it did not last long as Vinay parked his car at his shed around 10:15 and Sarah felt relieved. She decided to play a prank on him and hence pretended as if she fell unconscious and lay flat on the floor and expecting him to go mad over that scene, but Vinay was just heavily drunk that he did not notice Sarah, instead he jumped over her and walked into his room and it took a while for the smell of those cocktail to disperse in the air.

Sarah thought that he would have drunk as he would have felt so happy about the news "Men..." was her reaction. The next day morning Sarah did not see Vinay getting up till late 11 in the morning and her patience is just running out for being waited enough for Vinay to react or tell something. She went into their bedroom with a big pillow on her hand and started banging that on a quilt which was well covered and there came the voice from the bathroom from Vinay "What the hell is wrong with you ? I am here" Sarah just stood near their bathroom door and stood still as if she is admiring Vinay's brushing skills, but Vinay does not even care to look at her direction. Sarah in the meantime thought that she did not convey the news to Vinay properly and that's why he is like that and then whispered straight into his ears saying "I am expecting our little one ...", Vinay replied "Ya, you told me the same this last evening as well right ?", then Sarah asked him "Are you not happy about that?", Vinay said "I wish I could have been happy, if that was my child", this statement shook her so badly and Vinay went to the extent of being so cheap as he counted the number of days since they glued themselves for that inevitable.

Sarah was all in tears the whole full day and she felt so irritated to even look at Vinay's face, she is a firm girl, and hence she decided to walk out of the house and then stay with her friend for a while, but Vinay is not so dumb to allow her to do that, he played a neat scene and came running to her as if he was blabbering out of last night's drink and stuffs like that and convinced her to stay with him, and Sarah once again believed him without noticing the evil smile on his face. Vinay started to come home late and every day he came home drunk, this really upset Sarah and one day she questioned his attitude and demanded him a reason, this angered that drunken brat and he slapped her hard on her cheeks and dragged her by her hair and pushed her inside their store room, Sarah's scream went into deaf years and she was forced to remain inside that room forever. Vinay used to lock the house from outside before he goes to work and made sure that she does not escape by any means. Things started to become worse when Vinay started to bring his friends home and then offer them a drink. The house has virtually turned into a bar

Sarah was not allowed to even take bath nor change her clothes, she was just offered food and water, whenever she threatened to kill herself and refused to eat that food, she was beaten mercilessly by Vinay and she would be forced to eat. It is just not for anything but her unborn child Sarah used to eat and keep her in good health. One fine day Vinay opened her room and then asked her to take bath, Sarah did not know what made him to change, but he made sure that he tie her legs with those iron chains and made her almost immobile. Sarah did not realize the cruel intention behind Vinay asking her to take bath, that day in the evening, along with drinks Vinay offered Sarah to his friends, and Sarah's only hope of her unborn baby was shattered and it was aborted just in front of her eyes. She was made to sleep with every other friend of Vinay and what became a shocking incident for her, became a practice. Sarah had no reason to live in this world, and unfortunately she could not even die as she does not know how to die.

Sarah's close friend came home once to meet her as she did not hear from her for more than a month. Vinay pretended to be a very good husband and he told her friend that she has gone to her mother's place and hence she will take some more days to come back. Vinay did not know that the friend who came was actually sent by her mom who felt worried as she did not hear from Sarah for a long time. Her friend grew suspicious and she sensed that something is fishy. She did a very good job of going to the nearby police station and then complaining about her friend and also told them that she is suspecting Sarah's husband. Police came to Vinay's house two days after her friend's complaint and they said that they need to search the house, Vinay who feared that he may be caught red handed, rushed towards his bedroom and allowed his bullet to chew his skull. Police broke open the store room to see a completely nude Sarah who was bleeding so badly and also unconscious. Sarah who is now placed in a home for mentally retarded people, is just doing two things, crying non-stop and immediately laughing after seeing her own hands chained to the walls.

So howz this story ??? Pathetic right ?? You feel this story highly disgusting ?? Searching for me to give nice whacks ?? Arranging supari killers to kill me ?? Ok ... Ok ... cool down. I just wanted to let you folks know that INDEPENDENCE is something we all have to enjoy every minute of our life, we all are so blessed to be independent and the amount of freedom we all have in our lives is something which some folks won't have in their life. You will not know the power of freedom unless it is grabbed from you. Simple example, just a thought of you will be locked inside your bedroom which has TV, AC, Music System, food etc etc for a week, would make all of us go mad. We all should not forget the sacrifices done by our freedom fighters to get all of us this freedom and independence, I strongly feel that just celebrating that for one day is not at all enough, we have to celebrate them all thru the year and thank them all thru our life. Be Independent and Happy Independence Day!!! JAI HIND.

Statue for Peace ?

I would just term this latest stunt by two chief ministers of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu by opening the statue's of two notable poets of their respective states, nothing but a political gimmick. These two states were always been fighting against each other on the Cauvery water issue and opening of these statue's are not going to bridge any gap and I am sure the gap can never be filled. The people of both the states are always living at peace, there have been kannadigas living in Tamil nadu for ages and vice versa, these political buffoons created a rift and just to have their vote bank intact they divide the people of these two states and as usually the people who fall for their talks are the illiterates...

I am not a biased person, so please don’t read this post as one-sided, just because I support Tamil Nadu here. Let's recollect few facts which happened in this bloody state (Karnataka) after me moving into this city in 2005. This state would always love to torture and give nightmares to Tamil people, again I am not saying anything against the normal people who live here just like you and I, and I am talking about the politicians and some government officials who would make sure that a tamilian's life is hell. Simple example is this, and GOD only knows why such a haltered against a particular language speaking community. When the veteran actor Rajkumar was kidnapped by bandit Veerappan, every tamilian in the street was targeted and I was one of the victims, though I escaped with no injuries, but that incident shook me so badly and forced me to go back to Chennai. What the hell tamil people can do ? Did we ask Veerappan to kidnap Rajkumar ? One thing which I have noticed among the people of Karnataka is, they all can be easily brainwashed and molded in the way political parties want them to be. They just don't apply their mind most of the time.

Second incident is, when Rajkumar died out of natural cause, tamilians were searched and then beaten, the extent was so bad that my office sent an email to all its "tamil" speaking employees and asked us not to talk in tamil. WTF ? Am I a foreigner in INDIA ? They even asked to remove all the car / bike's number plates which had this TN-XX-XXXX registration. Never in the history of Tamil Nadu those people harmed any kannadigas, there people can take their KA-XX-XXXX registration vehicles wherever they wanted to and when a famous personality like MGR died (who is much much bigger than Rajkumar by all virtue) we never targeted kannadigas, the reason is Tamil Nadu people are sensible. We don't have a stupid gang like what they call here in Karnataka as "Kannda Rakshana Vedike", and never ever there would be such an organization would be allowed to develop in Tamil Nadu. They are seriously a bunch of jokers and they all have to be put behind bars as they destruct the harmony and peace of the country.

I was once pulled over by a cop when I was riding pillion in his bike, have you ever heard a traffic police man catching you and asking you "Do you know kannada ?" instead of "Do you have license ?", and he went to an extent that "We tamilians would want to enjoy the weather of bangalore, but will not learn kannada", man I am this country's citizen and I have all rights to choose which language I wanted to speak. I spoke to my other friends who were living in AP & Kerala they said, they never face such discrimination in those states. This state is growing like a graveyard, I would say that this is becoming the "Bihar" of the south. Political parties along with some sensible public should do something to save the remains of this city / state. This city / state is nothing more than a graveyard, if IT companies decides to pull out, so let these folks have this reality in mind and not force the 60% of the working population who are outsiders to run away from this state and invite doom. Language is just a medium of communication, it cannot be used as a weapon to torture other state folks. First let the government bring in the practice of writing the common road signs / bus boards in English / Kannada, in Bangalore 70% of the busses would just have Kannada for both numbers and place.

I still wish I would want to go back to Chennai very soon, it may be a city with an average temperature of 40 degrees, but the warmth that I would feel there is missing in this city. Let me not be an arm-chair cribber and then try finding fault on this place, if I don’t like it, I have to move on, I know that very well. So, opening of statues of two poets will not do anything to bridge the gap between these two states IMHO.

A story which shook me ...

I have to share this with all my readers today because not everyone would have watched what I watched today. I am talking about a program which I saw in Vijay TV by name "Nadandhadhu Enna", they actually show stories which were real and still existing in this society. This program shook me so badly and I thanked god for giving me such a life which is a dream to that family. I should admit that I was moved so badly that I could hardly control my tears, though I claim myself as an emotionally stable grown-up, but I also know that my heart is not made of stone. The story is about a family which suffered humiliation and pain due to their son's behavior and that family still lives in pain. My heart goes for that old mother who now takes care of her son who is now 37 years old and she is almost 75. My intention is not to make my readers heart go heavy after reading this, but I wanted to let you all know that the life we are all living now and carving for more is something which not many people can even dream for ...

Murugan is the only son for his dad and mom and that too he was born after 10 years of their marriage and that mother told the reporters that their joy knew no bounds once Murugan was born, but fate had different plans for Murugan. He was a normal kid for his initial 7 years, but fate smiled its evil grin on him and Murugan picked up the habit of stealing things, things which are of no big value, both his dad and mom warned him, beat him, gave him hot iron rod shots, but nothing changed Murugan's habit and he continued his petty thefts and the village started to blame Murugan for any thefts that happen in their village. Murugan was once blamed for stealing 40 sovereigns of gold and the village strongly believed that he was the culprit, police was called and they gave Murugan their treatment and Murugan was beaten up so badly in front of his dad and mom. In that incident Murugan's urinary bladder got punctured and four days later to that incident, the folks who gave the complaint on him said that they have got the gold back and Murugan did not take that.

After this incident Murugan's dad and mom took this extreme step, they tied Murugan's legs and hand with a big chain and along with it he has to carry a BIG rock on his hand, which almost made him immobile and this plan is to make him sit at home and not move anywhere so that the villagers do not blame him anymore, but even after that the villagers continued to haunt his family and Murugan was continued to be blamed for all theft's. His mom told the reporter that even last month some folks came home and then beat him very badly and at her age of 75 she said she could just be a spectator, when she said that she was actually laughing and not crying, but I know even her tears would have dried up by now as she would have cried enough. She barely has any teeth left, she is surviving on her husband's pension of Rs 350 per month and she does some wood cutting work to fill the deficit. Her love and affection towards Murugan even at this stage is something great, though we all know that no relationship is great in this world than a mother.

I did not break down till this minute and so did that 75 year old mom, but when the Vijay TV reporter asked her "Being his mother don’t you feel bad and sad that you have tied your own son's hand and legs and asking him to carry a big rock on his hand, why can't you untie those metal things which he is carrying for 27 years now" and the answer that mom gave for this question made me to shed those tears "Ya, it is very difficult to see him suffering with those metal chains, he can't even go freely for toilet, but you tell me, is this not better than you seeing your son being beaten up by third person in front of your eyes" and after that she just could not talk, she too cried and so did Vijay TV's reporter. She added saying, "I don't know how long I am going to be alive, as long as I am alive I will take care of my son, but after my death, I don't know what he will do, poor guy does not know anything, he is very innocent" and I just did not have guts to watch her face any further, and my eyes had already put a tear shield which faded her image.

At her age she has to be well taken care of by her son, but it’s the reverse that is happening now. When that Vijay TV reporter asked all those village people if they can now remove Murugan's chains and set him free, not even one said yes to that, they still say "What if he starts stealing again", and his mom too feels that he should not be released, finally that reporter asked Murugan if he want to be released and shockingly Murugan too said "He does not want to be freed" and when asked why?, he broke down. His mom then took him on her shoulders and said "Don’t cry Muruga, You are a good boy now", seriously my heart is not made of heart to see such an emotional scene. Touch your heart and think, the life you live today is the best when compared to the rest. Money is not life, it cannot buy happiness for us, it is just a part of life, so let’s stop running behind that and make our lives miserable.

Global War(n)ming ...

Guys, I think it is something which we educated folks should take it very seriously and we are absolutely ignorant and lethargic about the whole threatening issue of Global Warming. I saw a program in National Geographic two days back and it literally shook me and the facts and projections they are showing is very alarming and worrying. There is one GWC (Global Warming Consortium) which is sitting at the edge of Alaska and they are monitoring the rate at which those ICEY layers break and melt and if their projections are right, the entire world would be ice-less by 2115, I know none of us would be alive at that time, but let’s not give our next generation a bad planet to live, let’s all be very cautious in taking every step towards avoiding this catastrophic future that is staring at us and giving us an evil grin. Sheets and sheets of ice fossils are breaking every day and statistics say 3 cubic square meter of ice is melting in 1 hour every day, just imagine the rate guys ...

What actually is the concerning factor of Global Warming is, it is not the fact that certain parts of the globe receiving very high temperature or high rainfall, the scientific reason for this is, ICE is a white colored substance which is spread across 40% of our globe, what happens is, it directly reflects the sun's heat back to the space as they were white in color, what is happening currently is, those icy structures are changing colors and they are going dull, as a result of that the sun's heat is not reflected back to the space and it is indeed absorbed into earth and hence resulting in excess heat. Another very important use of having those ice glaciers in our planet is to maintain our eco system, surprised ? Yes, most of the sea life that are there today are mainly driven by the currents that are generated by these ice glaciers so if the ice continues to melt then we cannot have those lovely creatures with us.

Our planet's average temperature has increased from 26 degrees centigrade to 31 degree centigrade, which is a very alarming situation and if this trend continues, then the average temperature would scale up to un-imaginable heights, so let’s all be very responsible and give our 100 percent to stop global warming and save our beautiful mother earth. I have started to say a strict NO NO to plastic bags and I am very particular about that and I know that is just a start, but what are all the other indirect ways by which we can contribute from our side to stop global warming, here are some valuable tips

1. Replace a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb (cfl)
CFLs use 60% less energy than a regular bulb. This simple switch will save about 300 pounds of carbon dioxide a year. We recommend you purchase your CFL bulbs at 1000bulbs.com, they have great deals on both screw-in and plug-in light bulbs.

2. Install a programmable thermostat
Programmable thermostats will automatically lower the heat or air conditioning at night and raise them again in the morning. They can save you $100 a year on your energy bill.

3. Move your thermostat down 2° in winter and up 2° in summer
Almost half of the energy we use in our homes goes to heating and cooling. You could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year with this simple adjustment.

4. Choose energy efficient appliances when making new purchases
Look for the Energy Star label on new appliances to choose the most energy efficient products available.

5. Do not leave appliances on standby
Use the "on/off" function on the machine itself. A TV set that's switched on for 3 hours a day (the average time Europeans spend watching TV) and in standby mode during the remaining 21 hours uses about 40% of its energy in standby mode.

6. Defrost old fridges and freezers regularly
Even better is to replace them with newer models, which all have automatic defrost cycles and are generally up to two times more energy-efficient than their predecessors.

7. Don't let heat escape from your house over a long period
When airing your house, open the windows for only a few minutes. If you leave a small opening all day long, the energy needed to keep it warm inside during six cold months (10ºC or less outside temperature) would result in almost 1 ton of CO2 emissions.

8. Cover your pots while cooking
Doing so can save a lot of the energy needed for preparing the dish. Even better are pressure cookers and steamers: they can save around 70%!

9. Use the washing machine or dishwasher only when they are full
If you need to use it when it is half full, then use the half-load or economy setting. There is also no need to set the temperatures high. Nowadays detergents are so efficient that they get your clothes and dishes clean at low temperatures.

10. Take a shower instead of a bath
A shower takes up to four times less energy than a bath. To maximize the energy saving, avoid power showers and use low-flow showerheads, which are cheap and provide the same comfort.

11. Recycle your organic waste
Around 3% of the greenhouse gas emissions through the methane are released by decomposing bio-degradable waste. By recycling organic waste or composting it if you have a garden, you can help eliminate this problem! Just make sure that you compost it properly, so it decomposes with sufficient oxygen, otherwise your compost will cause methane emissions and smell foul.

12. Reuse your shopping bag
When shopping, it saves energy and waste to use a reusable bag instead of accepting a disposable one in each shop. Waste not only discharges CO2 and methane into the atmosphere, it can also pollute the air, groundwater and soil.

13. Plant a tree
A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime. Shade provided by trees can also reduce your air conditioning bill by 10 to 15%. The Arbor Day Foundation has information on planting and provides trees you can plant with membership.

14. Switch to green power
In many areas, you can switch to energy generated by clean, renewable sources such as wind and solar. In some of these, you can even get refunds by government if you choose to switch to a clean energy producer, and you can also earn money by selling the energy you produce and don't use for yourself.

15. Buy fresh foods instead of frozen
Frozen food uses 10 times more energy to produce.

16. Eat less meat
Methane is the second most significant greenhouse gas and cows are one of the greatest methane emitters. Their grassy diet and multiple stomachs cause them to produce methane, which they exhale with every breath.

17. Reduce the number of miles you drive by walking, biking, carpooling or taking mass transit wherever possible
Avoiding just 10 miles of driving every week would eliminate about 500 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions a year! Look for transit options in your area.

18. Start a carpool with your coworkers or classmates
Sharing a ride with someone just 2 days a week will reduce your carbon dioxide emissions by 1,590 pounds a year.

If we don't do all these, then those cute looking polar bears will not have a home to live and they will have to do balancing acts just like the picture I have posted for this blog.

Blindness ...

I am not an atheist but I do want to know why certain practices are followed without even knowing why we are doing that ? It is not that I got this bulb glowing on top of my head after doing my rig-upakarma, but I just thought of questioning myself on the fact that will I be a good senior Brahmin who has the credibility to educate or guide my next generation or will I too be sucked into this modernized world and just be an "arm-chair cribber" and keep finding faults on everyone and everything and keep boasting of my young age where I claim to have done so many things which I have not done or seen ? I fear that some of our good old cultures and traditions are seriously fading away in this electronic world, I am not against any inventions which would improve our lifestyle, but, all I am saying is, we should never forget our roots ...

I was chanting a 6 page mantras given by my dad and I felt so bad that I could not pronounce many of the words properly even though I claim to have learnt Sanskrit, we can ask "What's the big deal", but I don’t want to do anything for the sake of doing, I want to give my 100% in whatever I do and so I tried my level best to pronounce few words to perfection, I may not have understood the meaning of many words, but I made sure that I pronounce it properly. My dad does not know the reason for doing certain rituals and saying certain mantras, may be his dad would have been a bit more knowledgeable than him, but comparatively if we have to put a trending analysis chart on the understanding quotient of the rituals we do, I would say the graph is declining to a great extent. I cannot educate my kids of why we are doing certain things, I don’t know if my kids would be interested in doing all these, but history says that every generation is still following most of the rituals and hence we don’t need to fear a complete eradication of those rituals for at least another 200 years.

There is something called "Sooriya Namaskaaram" where you need to flex you fingers in a particular way where you would form a hole and via that hole you have to see the SUN, till date I don't know why we have to flex our fingers and do that, as usually curiosity kills the cat, so I searched on the internet to see if someone has given any good reasoning for that. I got a website which tells the meanings and purpose of every ritual and there was some info about "Sooriya Namaskaaram". What they say is, that "Sooriya Namaskaaram" should be done as early as 4 in the morning by sitting on a sea shore or a river bank, and the reason we bend our fingers in such a way is, when we are up from a good 8 hours sleep, all our nerves and bones would have gone tender and hence they would not be fit enough to do their job which they are expected to do and another interesting thing is, all the nerve points in our body has some connection to our fingers, so when we do flexing of our fingers in that posture, our entire body rejuvenates and it gives freshness to the soul and the reason why we are seeing the SUN is, your eyes would have been in the dark while you were sleeping, so the retina would have softened and bulged, if you immediately get up and expose your retina to a bright light, it will take a lot of time for it to get adjusted and show the actual vision, but by doing "Sooriya Namaskaaram" at 4:00 AM in the morning, the light will be mind and dull and when you focus that light, your retina gets time to adjust itself and hence it does not need to react so fast to be exposed to a brighter light. So, all these rituals are done based on some scientific platform. How many of us know this ?? I came to know this very recently :-)

There are loads of such beliefs which we are still following and don’t know why we have to follow and I am seriously planning to find the reason behind the following things - Why are ladies not allowed into cremation grounds?, Why should we not say a "good bye" when we come from a death house?, Why should we not eat onion on a no moon day?, Why are pregnant women not allowed to venture out on an eclipse day?, Why should we not clip nails after dark?, Why should not a baby be shown a mirror till 1 year?, Why should we not play with lemons?, Why husband and wife be separate during the month of Aadi?, Why we should wash our back foot when we come from outside?, Why do we say "God Bless You" when someone sneezes?, Why does a dead person's toe thumb fingers are tied ?, Why we should not eat anything before an eclipse? And the list of questions just continues and I am flooded with such curious questions without an answer.

SPB - Legend with a Golden Voice Rest's in Peace

This year 2020 is continuing to be the most depressing year in my life, how many lives we have lost across the globe due to this pandemic ...
